and I will be a rainbow

Speaking a lot about rainbows today and listening to Robert Plant's old interviews.

Please meet the creators of the video Isabella and Lucien Spelman from Mushy Peas Production.

And I will be a rainbow
Oh, while your storm is gone
And I will bring the song for you
And I will carry on

until someone dares us to rise up

Another good vision from Erika Ochoa. Blended with the sounds of Why?.

Farrah Marie, what is this?
Have a very merry Christmas
And bury me deep in this mess
I'll be under where you walk

I'm just like everybody else is
and everybody else is a fine dust,
Dead in our houses,
until someone dares us to rise up

old habits

Went back to my old habits this weekend and tuned into Selector. Good vibes from Goldierocks as always. Good tunes from Sparrow and the workshop. Promising.

always there to remind me

So the world’s first colour motion picture was filmed in 1902 as I found out today through Explore. I sincerely thank Edward Raymond Turner for the three-colour motion picture system and I suppose I'm not the only one. I run across many great visual discoveries during this weekend among them works of Imogen Prado which I am very happy to share. Blurred. Misty. Vapory. Wonderful. Enjoy.

"My style of editing, using an array of my own stock footage of anything from plastic glitter spiders to trains and roses, worked well visually with the song. I love playing with different mediums of footage, especially Super 8, because of the wonderful grain and the fantastic colors. It was easy to synthesize my visual aesthetic of swirling colors with footage I took of Sharin and Sune."

good (night) song from Violas

A new band to watch and to close the day with. Violas are releasing their new EP Nos Somnia tomorrow. What a dreamy start of the last week of August. Good. Night.

summer time

I still have summer in my mind. The outside world helps to keep this image. And so does this split single by Top Sounds and The New Tigers. So blue blue and full of sand. Good. Songs. Good. Night.

a good (night) song from Wild Nothing

What a fantastically colourful gift from Wild Nothing! The vinyl of the new album Nocturne will be released in six cover sleeves versions. Read more details on Bella Union's website. The band is touring with Beach House and The Walkmen (old good friends :)). A happy-sad song to close this exotic summer jolly-lucid daydreaming. Good. Night.

cicadas and gulls

The day intensively spun around connections. I spoke to dozens of strangers and to dozens of those I know well. Discovered new places and biked in the night. Summer is boldly approaching and city awakening. Liberating and overwhelming feeling in the middle of May.

cicadas and gulls
they scrape on the hull
the land and the sea
they're distant from me

I'm in the sky, sky, sky

I'm in the sky

(...) as high as a stage

as full as a room

don't leave my mind

Speaking of Azure Ray: here's a wonderful version of Don't Leave My Mind from their Drawing Down the Moon album. Ah, I would so much go now where no one knows me and where the winter is kind. All that dream pop mood Maria and Orenda create is quite suitable for this hazy-lazy Easter Sunday. Isn't the cover of this single simply beautiful? :) Enjoy.

Somethin' Is Better Than Nothin'

Tashaki Miyaki - Somethin' Is Better Than Nothin' from The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing on Vimeo.

You may come full circle and be new here again as Gil Scott-Heron sings. So let's end the SXSW theme by making a circle and having a closer look at Tashaki Miyaki. We don't know much. I thought she's just a girl but it turned out to be actually a duo. From LA but released by a British label. People hear echos of Best Coast, Cults, Karen Carpenter, John Lennon and Jesus and The Mary Chain. I hear Beach House. They definitely know how to pick up a good song for a cover (below and somewhere else) and a good director for a video (above). Good and black and white. It all makes sense.

a good (cover) song from Tashaki Miyaki

Oh, the SXSW fever begins and here's a mistery so let's keep an eye on her. Tashaki Miyaki, released by The Sounds Of Sweet Nothing, an independent young record label from the UK. Awww.. and so my hunt for everything that's British seems to continue by itself. Well, it's a good excuse to establish a new label here on Oochy Woochy: the sweet sounds of nothing! I love this name. Perfect.
