new frontiers | new elements

I saw new frontiers – on the edge between what I knew and what I didn’t know – that I had long wanted to explore: creation myths, the periodic table, Euclid's geometry, Kandinsky’s writings, the matter of sound, and of colour, the stems of wild grass in a meadow, the shapes of the landscape. For months I wandered in a seemingly chaotic mix of images, thoughts and feelings. Then, gradually, everything came together in a dance, as if all the elements were parts of the same world, and myself within it. Ludovico Einaudi

what it means to be heard

Rearranging albums from the last year over the weekend. Gave a good kick-off for the upcoming days. If you still haven't heard, make sure you do hear it now. Akua Naru. Powerful music espresso under 3 minutes. That's what I call a new start. Monday vibes.

The video was directed by Double Rush. Make sure to get Akua's The Miner's Canary album here.

molam | singing expert

Soundway never lets you down. Closing the week with the North-East Thailand sounds.

North-East Thailand, the epicentre of Molam and Luk Thung Isan music. The term molam is actually two separate words pushed together: Mo meaning ‘expert’ or ‘doctor’ and lam meaning ‘to sing’. Hence the literal translation means ‘singing expert’. Many molam records have extended intros that allow a vocalist to establish the theme of the song, as well as flex their improvisational muscles. Luk thung (literally ‘song of the countryside’)is a much broader, rural style that had a bigger impact nationally. via Soundway

Revisiting works of Yoshi Sodeoka. Unmistakable. As always. Here he's teaming up with Ice Cream Cathedral. Now I'm in serious need of some gigs. LIVE. MUSIC. NOW.

ps. And I just realised that's actually my 500th post in here. Now... let's dance.

walking in the clouds

Pretty much on hiatus this year as well. Despite appearances - the year has been full of good vibes. The best good vibes music moment - meeting the zen handpan master.

along with their stories

A pile of new albums on my desk. All to be checked during the upcoming days. Bliss. Plus new perspectives ahead and the sounds of The Helio Sequence blending with the visuals of Emanuele Kabu on top of that. Everything comes full circle. ...along with your stories.

For more videos of Emanuele Kabu, please click here.

"The main concept was to create something that continually collapses into something else as if it'll never be able to reach a proper form." Kabu via Dezeen

something different | something new

New perspective. Movie. Good talks. Good people. City. Walk. Tuning into my days off. Abundance. New music. New visions. Clock Opera's new album. November at its best.

"To coincide with the release, the band are also sharing a set of short, beautifully-shot, documentaries that offer a behind-the-scenes view in to their world as they craft what will become the new album." via Gold Flake Paint
