the video opens on an interior | the scene then cuts to

"The video opens on an interior. It is New York. We see David Swan, practicing diligently.

The scene then cuts to Emmy The Great, and both men, cheering loudly. Then, Emmy the great is seen wearing the hooded figure in the dark sky.

In the chorus, Emmy The Great lip-synchs to the camera, dancing romantically with a bra. Then, Emmy The Great destroys the pair angrily with both men.

The video ends in a desk. Emmy The Great is shown waving sadly to the fairytale prince."

Now that's a concept: Daniel Swan and Emmy The Great are teaming up. And then it gets better: you can generate your own music video plot as seen above and below: music video machine. Goodbye boredom.

tapping into my spine | I am chemistry

Yeasayer's new album is in stores today. No joke. Some parts serve as quite elaborative chemistry revision. No complain. Just like sarin, it puts you on your knees. Now we can all tap those tunes into our spines. We are a chemistry. Amen & Goodbye.

I'm digoxin from the foxglove plant
the last remaining VX from Anniston
I'm an ACN and I'm DDT
tap into your spine
I am a chemistry

it's a gas, a sarin for high tea

a C4H10FO2P puts you on your knees
a sulfur dichloride with ethylene
I say it again: I am a chemistry

blooming | reaching away from earth

There is something so daunting and suave about the music of Jeremy Zuckerman and the whole Echo Society. It's not even about teasing your ear canals. It's about soul piercing.

The Echo Society is a Los Angeles-based collective that gathers to create and share new sonic and visual art. Our third concert "Bloom," featured a 20 piece chamber ensemble performing original works for the first time, alongside special guest composers Amon Tobin and Ryat.

The LA-based ensemble, comprised of traditional instrumentation mixed with electronics, was created for the show and conducted by our very own Joe Trapanese. The sold-out night showcased visual design by Brady McGowan & Effixx, and sound & mastering by Satoshi Noguchi. Recorded live March 12th, 2015 at Vibiana in Los Angeles.

staying in memory | achieving

Fog. Sun. Run around the nearby prison. Then islands. Then boats. Harbour. Walk. Good talk. Then some things in-between. Pheeew. The list is long. Want to ask for more. Nah. THAT and the rest stays in memory. Plus I like that video.

Find out more about Yiruma here. In case you're short on time, know that the name Yiruma in Korean means I shall achieve. That's all you need to know for now. Have a fruitful and prosperous upcoming week and spring.

makin' 'em proud like the real thing

There are no words to express my love for tUne yArDs. It's not real. Just what is...

just what is the real thing?
don't call my the real thing
the search for the real thing
the curse of the real thing
I come from the land of shame
blood and guts are all I claim, singing

And when suddenly and unexpectedly you get a good vibe back. We carry each other.

See more of the Walk The Moon here.

different colors
we carry each other
we're just different colors
this is why we're biting the bullet

leaping | in balance

I've committed myself to a sport activity two times in a row now. It makes me feel like a very responsible adult. Also talked about cello and revisited works of Zoë Keating. And that always makes me feel in balance.

figures are forming to find us a door

When things move forward or at least you have an illusion of that but you lack a good tune to back you up. So I discover an old tape and things are kind of back on track again.

when I dance in disorder

Shake. Shook. Shaken. Endorphin levels restored by The Dø. I am this video.

The video was directed by Jeremiah and The Dø and edited by Rebecca Gomes Ferenczi.

we are sentimental animals
we are undercover criminals
we were meant to make a thing or two
meant to break the laws of gravity too (...)

creatures like me
easily sucked in
when I dance in disorder
do I want to
make sense at all
no no no, not this time, it
comes and goes
comes and goes
chaos is my second home

never you mind I'll sift through the piles

When you have friends staying over and they know your music. Priceless.

4AD Session. Shot at Shangri-La Studios in the heart of the Brooklyn film and photography district in Greenpoint, the session was recorded with Annie's new band, Daniel Mintseris (keys), Toko Yasuda (moog) and Matthew Johnson (drums). via 4AD

turn off the TV, wait in bed
blue and red
somethin' to get along (...)

dress the undressing for the wall
if mother calls
she knows well we don't get along

I tell the mailman, "Never you mind
I'll sift through the piles"
for him to just get along

where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth

A bizarrely sunny day ended with the most spectacular live music vibes that appear in the universe most probably once every four years. Also, I had a smoothie. And great people by my side. We're gold that's as bright as hell's own flame.

Please meet the director of the video Kendy Ty.

remember when no one danced the same
we all had a voice
we had a name
we're gold that's as bright as hell's own flame
forgive me, for I have lost my way (...)

oh raise me up, oh raise me from the dirt
each second is a high point of concern
where we're going to, you can't bring all your worth

pop-up cinema

I am so happy today. Like it almost feels unreal. And then this tune came by. A pop-up cinema remains on my still growing to-do list. Think about it. I am doing it.

Please meet the creators of the video: Noah Campeau and Jack Wolf. Additional Camera work and direction by Yaschar Scheyda. For more sounds from Tropics, click here.

no chill Iceland

Seriously Iceland. You have no chill. Out of your 329 100 inhabitants*, 329 100 are good musicians? I bow to you. Your world is a self-delusion. Your gifts are illusions.

je vous présente | La Luz

Ethnic Culture Hour everyone. Bonjour. Je vous présente: La Luz. On repeat for the past two weeks. Lost in the city, so far from you. Life is calm and lazy part of what's become of you.

Please meet the director of the video Carlos Alberto Fernandez Lopez. Directory of Photography: Miles Burnett. For more Hardly Art Records, click here.

"The inspiration for the video came from watching a lot of public access performances of our favorite bands and the bygone practice of compiling those performances onto worn out VHS tapes to pass along to buddies," explains director Carlos Lopez of his vision. "The show we invented for the video is perhaps not run by the most seasoned or professional crew, and whoever is the control booth just wants to go crazy with the green screen effects. We also wanted to make a section of the video 3D as a bonus for those with the 3D glasses that come with every copy of the album." via Noisey.

new frontiers | new elements

I saw new frontiers – on the edge between what I knew and what I didn’t know – that I had long wanted to explore: creation myths, the periodic table, Euclid's geometry, Kandinsky’s writings, the matter of sound, and of colour, the stems of wild grass in a meadow, the shapes of the landscape. For months I wandered in a seemingly chaotic mix of images, thoughts and feelings. Then, gradually, everything came together in a dance, as if all the elements were parts of the same world, and myself within it. Ludovico Einaudi

what it means to be heard

Rearranging albums from the last year over the weekend. Gave a good kick-off for the upcoming days. If you still haven't heard, make sure you do hear it now. Akua Naru. Powerful music espresso under 3 minutes. That's what I call a new start. Monday vibes.

The video was directed by Double Rush. Make sure to get Akua's The Miner's Canary album here.

molam | singing expert

Soundway never lets you down. Closing the week with the North-East Thailand sounds.

North-East Thailand, the epicentre of Molam and Luk Thung Isan music. The term molam is actually two separate words pushed together: Mo meaning ‘expert’ or ‘doctor’ and lam meaning ‘to sing’. Hence the literal translation means ‘singing expert’. Many molam records have extended intros that allow a vocalist to establish the theme of the song, as well as flex their improvisational muscles. Luk thung (literally ‘song of the countryside’)is a much broader, rural style that had a bigger impact nationally. via Soundway
