Hypnotic. Cinematic. Great. In the city. That's what this year was about and this is the soundtrack to this: the song of the 2012 by Sam Sure & Giacomo. Good. Blend. Good. Year.
Please meet the director of the video Richard Nockles and have a look at the production company Yellow Bird. For the interactive Dark Inside video visit the band's website.

consequences | awkard places
I got some nice yellow energy today, finally got myself a tiny, tiny, tiny notebook that I've always wanted to have and at the end of the day reminded myself of this band: Reptar. Did I mention this already? Oh yes, I did. And all that happened on Tuesday. Good. Night.

ethereal | eternal
Tidal wave is coming to close my day. Suitably enough. Somehow cleansing and ethereal. Ephemeral? Far from it. Eternal? Most likely. Husky. A band to be heard of.
Please meet the director of the video Celeste Potter. For more video works click here.
I climbed aboard a tidal wave bearing down upon the city from the ocean
They said it would come any day like a monster of perpetual devotion
I was surfing it clear
I was crashing through the city streets where we once went looking for love
I'd change my name if I had one to change
I'd change the world if I wasn't so plain
I see your eyes in my eyes suddenly

(Saint) Sebastian
Monday, a new beginning, and time to dig out new bands and new tunes. Here comes Reptar. Do I hear some echos of Wu Lyf? Brilliant. Their debut album Body Faucet is now available through Vagrant Records. DIY is streaming the album this week: have a listen, fall in love and be proud of it! :)
Please meet the directors of the video Ben Fries and Jesse Cain from Deadhorse.
The clip combines performance footage of Reptar’s lead singer Graham Ulicny, shot from several angles simultaneously to create a surreal and cubistic effect, with living tableaus. The tableaus depict the story of Saint Sebastian, the Christian saint and martyr and earliest gay icon, who was tied to a tree and shot with arrows before ultimately being clubbed to death for his criticism of the Emperor.

black dog
I am a cat person. Cats like me as opposed to dogs that usually avoid
me or bite me. However recently there have been two positive incidents
that change my attitude towards these lovely creatures. In both cases a
dog of a friend came to sit on my lap the entire evening (a thing that
it would never do as my friend said) and that had a really healing
effect on me. I guess a dog from Jennifer Left song might not have such
an effect (it's cute, though quite a big dog, and it would not fit on my lap ;)), but the song as a whole
definitely has. Jennifer is from Brighton (where all the bent tunes come from) and is another new artist
added to the watch list of 2012. Also, make sure to check out this cool blog about Brighton music.
Video credits go to Thom Undrell and Jennifer's producer Tim Bidwell.

it was such a good day
Speaking of something that is incomparable and unique: another fantastic tune form Cat in the Box. It feels pretty schizophrenic to hum this Bad Day chorus while the day was actually superb and splendid. But then again, thinking of the band's origins: is the cat dead or life? An entangled duality. :)

bent tunes | dizzy, dizzy!
Dizzy dizzy! I am dizzy from all the light that is flooding my room after 10 pm! Mischievous Helsinki spring sun causing confusion, welcome back! Bentcousin from Brighton/London will perhaps find out one day about this kind of dizziness. For now they are trying to get to Meadowlands Festival. Let's hope they'll make it! The band caught my attention a while ago with their cool and unpretentious music attitude and yes, they happen to rule as they claim themselves :) Plus they do comics (see more here), which is simply a perfect combination for me.

I've got those feelings
Just before the take off: a new artist discovered thanks to Sam Sure & Giacomo's post on their facebook: Ian M Hale, a south London singer-songwriter. Quite suitable. This is where I'm heading to. Off we go!
Meet the director of the video Domenico Favata.

cat in the box
No, it has nothing to do with Simon's cat. It's a bit more complicated.
In the town of my choice it's raining tonight.

a good song from Tigercats
Another band to watch in 2012. Surprisingly enough, they are British :)
Someone described them quite accurately "Tigercats are that rarest of bands, an indie-pop act you can actually dance to.." So, do I see you dancing there? :)
Tigercats come from the known family of Haircut Records and their new album will be released by Fika Recordings.
